How to approve a DebiCheck on Capitec
Capitec sends you an SMS when a DebiCheck is waiting. The fastest way is the Capitec app: log in and a message shows your waiting DebiCheck. No app? Dial *120*3279# or call Capitec on 0860 10 20 43.
In the Capitec app
- Capitec sends you an SMS that says you have a debit order to approve.
- Open the Capitec app and enter your Remote PIN.
- A message tells you about your waiting DebiCheck. Choose to accept or decline.
- Your list of waiting DebiChecks shows. Choose the one you want.
- Check that the business name, amount and date are correct.
- If they are correct, approve it. If not, decline it.
These steps are from Capitec's guide of 23 July 2018. The app may look different now. If you cannot find the request, call 0860 10 20 43.
With the phone menu (USSD)
- Dial *120*3279#.
- Choose option 8 (DebiCheck).
- Check the details on the screen. Choose 1 to continue.
- Check the extra details. Choose 1 to approve or 2 to decline.
- Read the disclaimer (a short legal notice). Choose 1 to continue.
- Enter your Mobile Banking PIN. A confirmation message shows.
You must be registered for Capitec Mobile Banking. No airtime? Capitec says you can dial *130*3279# to buy airtime first. Menu numbers can change: if option 8 is not DebiCheck, use the app or call 0860 10 20 43.

Did it work?
Done. Your debit order is set up.

A real DebiCheck request comes from your own bank, inside its app, SMS, phone menu or ATM. It shows the business name, the amount and the collection day. Your bank will never send you a link to approve it or ask for your PIN, password or OTP.
